Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi’ ignored at the National Film Awards

Anurag Basu’s Barfi was one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies of 2012. The movie won the hearts of the audience Barfi-100-croreand managed to garner more than 100 crore at the Indian box office in spite of not being a commercial film per say. And then came the award season and Barfi swept most of the major film awards like Filmfare, Screen Awards and Zee Cine Awards. However the biggest awards of all, the National Film Awards were announced today and surprisingly Barfi did not win even a single award!

Now why and how did this happen, that only the jury members can tell. But we feel that Barfi didn’t win because many of it’s scenes were a direct lift from other movies. In fact the copying bit came into news when the movie released and that was the reason why many people were angry on it being chosen as India’s official entry to Oscars. Well looks like the jury for the National Awards thought the same and thus totally ignored this Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer.

Well all we can say is you win some, you lose some!
