This week’s release Department is a disaster at the Box Office. The film collected around 7.50 crore in its first weekend. Despite having big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt in it, the film simply failed to impress the audience. The collections at single screens were slightly better than multiplexes. The debacle of the film proves that even big stars can’t make a bad film work!
On the other hand, newcomer Arjun Kapoor has scored a hit with his very first film. His debut movie Ishaqzaade which was released last week has managed to collect 33 crore in 10 days! The film is already a hit and is likely to finish with a lifetime business of 45 crore+. This is definitely good news for Yash Raj Films and also for Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra.
Karishma Kapoor’s Dangerous Ishq has flopped at the box office. The film could only collect 5.50 crore in its first week. While Karishma was counting on the film for her comeback, it seems the audience was not impressed, neither with her nor the story.
Vicky Donor continued its magical run at the Box Office this week too and is likely to end its run at lifetime business of 40 crore. The film have proved to be a highly profitable venture for producer John Abraham, who is thrilled with its success. Vicky Donor has done exceptionally well in multiplexes of big metros like Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore and Mumbai. The film has emerged to be a big hit in the north circuit.
