Bollywood’s evergreen diva, Sridevi turns another year older today. Regarded as one of the most beautiful and talented actors to have graced Bollywood, Sridevi started her career in south with Tamil and Telugu movies. Her first Hindi film as a lead was Solva Sawan in 1979. Since then the actress went on to give some memorable performances in films like Nagina, Mr. India, Chandni, Chaalbaaz, Lamhe, Khuda Gawah, Laadla, Judaai and many more.
The diva is all set for her Bollywood comeback this year with English Vinglish which releases on 5th October. On her birthday today, let’s take a look at some unknown facts about the gorgeous Sridevi.
– Sridevi made a comeback on TV with a comedy show Malini Iyer on Sahara One in 2004. The show was produced by her husband Boney Kapoor and directed by Satish Kaushik.
– Since Sridevi is a South Indian. she was initially not very comfortable with Hindi. Her voice in her earlier Bollywood films were dubbed.
– She wanted to quit Bollywood and sit by her mother’s side after the death of her father in 1991.
– Sridevi made quite a hit pair with Anil Kapoor who later went on to become her brother-in-law in real life.
– Sridevi’s mother died due to medical negligence by US doctors. She was operated on the wrong side of the brain by doctors at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
– The actress sang for the first time in the movie Chandni.
– Sridevi did Laadla after the sudden death of Divya Bharti. Divya had shot almost 50% of the movie before her demise.
– Her favorite ice cream is pineapple while her favorite color is white.
