Box Office: Heroine drops, Barfi steady

This week’s release Heroine had a heavy fall on Monday. The collections were down by 50-55% on Monday as compared to Friday. Even though the film got a good opening because of the hype around it, the word of mouth has not been positive. Most of the critics have also criticized director Madhur Bhandarkar for a lackluster script. Here’s is the 4 days break up of Heroine at the box office.

Friday – 7 crore

Saturday – 7.25 crore

Sunday – 8 crore

Monday – 3 crore

Total: 25 crore approx.

On the other hand last week’s release Barfi continues to be rock steady at the Box Office. The film had a great second weekend and collected around 16 crore. It’s second Monday business collections are in range of 3 crore + which truly is remarkable. Many theaters have in fact increased the number of shows for Barfi ever since the movie was selected as India’s official entry to Oscars. Looking at the current trend, Barfi can very well make it to the 100 crore club. If it does, it will be the first non-commercial film to do so.
