Box Office: New Releases dull, Race 2 drops

2013 hasn’t been good for the Indian box office till now (except Race 2). Month of January saw several flops and February too has started on a David-Hindi-Movie-Box-Officesimilar note. Not 1, not 2 but 8 films released on the 1st Friday of February. Prominent among these were David, Vishwaroop, Mai and Midnight’s Children. All the releases had a dull start at the box office throughout the country. Out of these David and Vishwaroop fared comparatively better even though their collections were also very low.

Last week’s release Race 2 collected more than 67 crore in it’s 1 week and also remains the first choice of audience in week 2. However Race 2 showed a downward trend after doing well in it’s first weekend. Collections fell from Monday onwards especially in mass belts. The lifetime collections of the movie will depend on how well it does in week 2. We think it might just do well considering there’s hardly any competition from the releases this week.
