Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore has collected 15 crore on Day 1 of its release (Friday, 1st June). The film opened to 90%-100% collections at single screens and 70% at multiplexes yesterday. The 15 crore figure is as per early estimates from various parts of the country. The numbers from single screens are huge. This makes it the highest opening collections on Day 1 for an Akshay Kumar movie. The previous record was held by Housefull 2 which collected 13 crore on its Day 1.
Rowdy Rathore now holds the record for the biggest opening during a non-holiday period. It has also made it’s place among the top 10 openings of all times. This is director Prabhu Deva’s second film after Wanted which has got such a tremendous response at the Box Office. Though the film has received mixed reviews from the critics, the numbers show that the audience has given thumbs up to Rowdy Rathore.
