Emraan Hashmi who made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with the film Footpath turns 33 today (24th March). The actor shot to fame with the movie Murder; co-starring Mallika Sherawat the movie went on be a super hit at the box office. Since then, Emraan has done some memorable roles in movies like Gangster, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Jannat, Raaz- The Mystery Continues and last year’s blockbuster The Dirty Picture. One of the most amazing things about his movies are that almost all of them have superhit music. It might just be a coincidence but if it is a Emraan Hashmi movie, people automatically expect some good songs from it. The songs from his movies usually go on to become chartbusters whethers its “Kaho naa kaho” from Murder, “Ya Ali” from Gangster, “Pee Loon” from Once Upon A Time In Mumbai or “Ishq Sufiyana” from The Dirty Picture.
Emraan is often called the “Serial Kisser” of Bollywood due to the number of kissing scenes he has done in his movies. The actor who has achieved considerable success in his 9 years in Bollywood is undoubtedly a big star in small cities and towns. His movies usually do very good business at single screen theaters rather than at the multiplexes. The actor who finished last year on a high with the stupendous success of The Dirty Picture has an interesting line up of films in 2012. This year we will get to see him in Shanghai, Raaz 3 and Jannat 2. He has also signed Ghanchakkar opposite Vidya Balan.
We feel that as an actor Emraan is hugely underrated in Bollywood. Having given some memorable performances, the actor is often neglected by the award shows for bigger stars. He still hasn’t been able to work with the big banners like the Chopras and Johars. Well we hope all that changes this year and Bollywood starts recognizing his performances. We wish him a very happy birthday and lots of success in the coming year!
