When Sajid Khan decided to release his movie Housefull 2 during the 1st week of Indian Premier League (IPL) many thought that it was not a wise move and the movie could have been postponed by a week or two. However four days after the release, it is director Sajid Khan and his entire team which is having the last laugh. Housefull 2 has managed to get the second best opening of the year.
The films opened to mixed critics reviews but that didn’t seem to effect the viewers. Housefull 2 raked in more than 13 crore on Friday which was the second best opening day figure for the year 2012, the only movie which did better than this was Agneepath which made a whooping 25 crore on its first day. After a good Friday, the movie went on to collect around 13 crore and 16 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The movie had a 42 crore weekend, making it the biggest weekend collection for an Akshay Kumar starrer beating Tees Maar Khan which collected 37 crore. The film is also doing well on weekdays, will Monday collections likely to be around 7 crore.
The success of Housefull 2 is definitely a good news for all its actors but mainly for Akshay Kumar who was in desperate need for a hit. His last release Desi Boyz could only do average business at the box office.
