Ever since Kareena Kapoor walked out (or was asked to leave) of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela, there have been innumerable rumors about her replacement. It was said that SLB didn’t want a married woman as her Juliet and hence Kareena was replaced. However the actress said that she walked out of the movie due to some contractual issues.
About Kareena’s replacement, it was first reported that the director is looking for a new face however it was later speculated that Priyanka Chopra has been roped in to play Juliet in the film. But the latest buzz suggests that Deepika has been signed for Raam Leela!
A source close to SLB revealed “Bhansali wanted an A list heroine to play Leela. He approached Katrina but she did not have dates. Deepika was the only one with available dates for the project. Bhansali was only too happy to have her.” Apparently Deepika transferred the dates she had given for Karan Johar – Ekta Kapoor’s next to Ram Leela “The other project was taking too much time. The script wasn’t ready. So Deepika simply transferred her dates to Bhansali’s film,” another source told us.”, added the source.
However there’s still a twist in the tale. The film’s fashion designer Anju Modi was recently quoted as saying ” “I am designing for Priyanka, Supriya Pathak and to some extent Ranveer Singh. I was supposed to design for Kareena, but now it’s Priyanka. Both are divas and I’m equally excited.”, does this mean Priyanka is finally doing the film?
Deepika or Priyanka, who will be SLB’s Juliet? Well only Sanjay Leela Bhansali can have answer to that! The whole fiasco somehow reminds us of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine, the rumors just refuse to die down. We hope to get an official announcement soon.
