Aishwarya Rai at Cannes 2012 – Looking back

After all the hype and hoopla around Aishwarya Rai’s appearance at Cannes 2012 has died down, we take a look at how the actress fared at the film festival. Aishwarya made her first Cannes appearance in 2002 in a golden saree for promoting her movie Devdas and ever since she has been a regular at the film festival as the brand ambassador of Lo’real.

Her appearances in the subsequent years were heavily criticized by the Indian media and fashion gurus. She received a lot of flak for her dressing sense and fashion style. However things were a little different this year, Aishwarya was on the radar for not only her fashion sense (which she is every year) but also for her post pregnancy weight gain. Admist a lot of media speculation a quite healthy looking Aishwarya made her Cannes appearance this year. Did she disappoint? Let’s take a look at all her 4 appearances at the Cannes Film Festival 2012.

1. Aishwarya’s first appearance at Cannes 2012 – Day 1, Media Call

For her first appearance at Cannes this year, Aishwarya was dressed in an Angelo Katsapis outfit. The first pictures of her from Cannes surprised many and that too in a pleasant way. A slimmer looking Aish looked lovely in that outfit, so much better than what she had looked in the last few months after giving birth to her daughter.

2. Aishwarya’s second appearance at Cannes 2012 – Day 1, amfAR Gala

For her second appearance at the amfAR gala, Aish wore a traditional Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla outfit. Abu-Sandeep are Bachchan’s favorite designers and so it didn’t surprise us that Aish picked them up for such an important event. Even though the blouse was a little too busy for out taste, she did look pretty in it.

3. Aishwarya’s third appearance at Cannes 2012 – Day 2, Media Call

On her 2nd day at Cannes, Aishwarya Rai addressed the media in a Roberto Cavalli Kaftan. A very unusual choice and something that we haven’t seen on Aishwarya before. Perhaps it was a good outfit to hide all the post pregnancy weight however the kaftan looked too big on her and didn’t impress us much.

4. Aishwarya’s fourth appearance at Cannes 2012 – Day 2, Cosmopolis Premiere

For her fourth and final public appearance at Cannes, Aishwarya Rai was seen in a blue Elie Saab gown. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that she saved her best for the last. Not only did she look ravishing in the gown, she also walked the red carpet with a lot of confidence and grace, in true Miss World style!

So out of her 4 appearances she gets 3 Thumb Up and 1 Thumbs Down from us. We think that with all that extra weight and all the hype around her appearance at Cannes, she did manage to look good.
