Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna celebrates his 37th birthday today (28th March). The actor who is known for his acting talent does not do many films, in fact he had no releases last year! Akshaye made his debut in 1997 with Himalay Putra which tanked at the box office. However his talent was noticed with his very next release, Border. The movie went on to do well at the box office and Akshaye got the Filmfare Best Debut Award for the same.
After giving several flops, it was Dil Chahta hai which turned out to be the turning point of his career. Akshaye’s portrayal of the quiet and reserved Siddharth who falls in love with an older woman won him accolades from viewers and critics alike. He went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie. Akshaye has also been applauded for his comic timing in hit films like Hungama and Hulchul. Though not much of a star, the actor has been always appreciated for the variety of roles that he does, whether its playing the baddie Rajeev in Race or Mahatma Gandhi’s eldest son Harilal Gandhi in Gandhi, My Father. His role in Gandhi, My Father is often considered to be his finest performance till date.
His sole release this year, Gali Gali Chor Hai could not fetch up good numbers at the box office. We wish to see more of this talented actor and hope he does more films! We at TB wish him a very happy birthday and lots of success in the coming years. Happy Birthday Akshaye Khanna.
