The multi-starrer Race 2 starring Saif Ali Kha, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor and Ameesha Patel has opened to a good start at the box office. The all India collections for Day 1 were in the range of 60-70% at single screens and multiplexes. The movie was strong in North India especially in Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Ludhiana. However on the down side, Race 2 has received mostly bad reviews from the critics. While film critic Taran Adarsh says that “RACE 2 pales in comparison to RACE”, according to Rajeev Masand the movie lacks originality.
Such mixed reviews can definitely have an adverse effect on the collections of Race 2. Tomorrow is a national holiday in India and it will be interesting to see how well the movie performs in spite of the bad reviews and mixed response from the audience. The first day collections of Race 2 should be around 12 crore and it is likely to be Saif Ali Khan’s biggest opener leaving behind Cocktail which collected 11 crore.
