Why did Kareena Kapoor's Heroine fail at the box office?

Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine might have got the biggest opening for a women centric film but that was not enough to make it a box office success. The movie was promoted extensively and on top of that there was a tremendous hype around it. Madhur Bhandarkar’s previous films have more or less catered to the classes however this time around the directed introduced an item song (Halkat Jawani) and made it as much appealing to the masses as possible. But in spite of all the efforts the film received bad reviews from the critics and also failed to charm the audience.
