Dubai citizens upset with Heroine trailer

While the trailer of Kareena Kapoor’s upcoming movie Heroine has impressed one and all, the residents of Dubai are apparently not too happy with it. The reason? Kareena’s dialogue in the trailer which implies that Dubai is the land of illegal activities like prostitution. While speaking to the media Kareena’s character in the film says “Heroine ne gaadi li toh business man ne gift kiya… aur God forbid Dubai gayi, toh uska rate card ban jaata hai” (If an actress buys a car, it is supposed to be a gift from a businessman, and god forbid if she goes to Dubai, then you people are ready with a rate card for her services). This dialogue has upset the people of Dubai as it implies that Dubai is the hub of escort services.

The Dubai media feels that the reference was unnecessary and it hurts the sentiments of it’s citizens. The makers of Heroine have now decided to cut off the line or mute the word ‘Dubai’ from the print that will release in the Middle East. This has be done to not hurt the sentiments of the people of Dubai. Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, Heroine will release on Kareena Kapoor’s birthday 21st September.
