Rajesh Khanna cremated, Aarav lights his pyre

Akshay Kumar’s son Aarav lit the pyre and said final goodbye to his grandfather Rajesh Khanna as his body was cremated today in Mumbai. “Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar assisted him” informed Vijay Zaveri, a close friend of Rajesh Khanna. The superstar’s final journey that started from his home around 10 am saw several Bollywood celebrities turn up to pay their last tribute. Among those who attended his funeral were Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sajid Khan, Randhir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Sudhir Mishra etc. Thousands of fans also gathered have one last glimpse of their favorite actor.

Rajesh Khanna’s entire family was present including wife Dimple Kapadia, daughter Rinkie Khanna and son-in-law Akshay Kumar and Sameer Saran. Elder daughter Twinkle Khanna who is 7 months pregnant was not present at the funeral. Perhaps  she had been advised to stay away for her own health.

Rajesh Khanna had been critically ill for quite some time now. The actor breathed his last yesterday afternoon at his residence in Bandra. May his soul rest in peace.
